1. Nepal earthquake

As the time passes the situation in Nepal, hit by a 7.8-magnitude
earthquake over the past weekend, seems to be getting worse.
Rescue teams are moving away from capital of Kathmandu, to reach
devastated villages near the quake's epicenter.
There is very limited or no power available, cellular towers are down
and cell/satphone recharging is impossible.

1. Incident Command System Training

ARES under direction from their respective SMs, offers support to
municipalities across Canada
in providing a back-up communications capability for the municipal
emergency management team.
Some of these municipalities or served agencies use ICS and where that
exists,
there could be a request that ARES radio operators be trained at least
to the ICS-100 / 200 levels

RAC is pleased to announce that Mr. Bill Boskwick (VE4BOZ/VE4IR) has
accepted the position
of Chief Field Services Officer (CFSO).
This is an executive level position within RAC and reports to the
President.

One of the significant roles within Field Services is the enabling of
amateur emergency
communications at the regional level.

1. RAC Bulletin Outage

Attention RAC Members,
Our provider at eton.ca that handles RAC bulletins, RARAN, and ARES had
its internet service changed on Friday Feb 27, 2015
and all of these applicable mail servers were down for a period of time
between 12 noon and 5 PM.

This affected RAC bulletins, RARAN, and ARES reflectors and any of the
affiliated information pages for those services.
However, it did not impact the RAC email alias service.
