1. York Region Hamfest

The York Region Amateur Radio Club will hold its 37th Annual Hamfest
on Saturday, November 2, at a new location: the Newmarket Community
Centre, 200 Doug Duncan Drive, in Newmarket. General admission at 9
a.m.; talk-in on VE3YRA repeater, 145.350 (-) 103.5 Hz tone. For

1. RAC Scholarships Granted

Radio Amateurs of Canada is pleased to announce the granting of three
$500 academic scholarships, to Ms. Paulyn Mulles, VE3PJM at Carlton
University, Mr. Jason Deglint, VE7TJD at University of Victoria, and
Mr. Liam Bindle, VE5LRB at the University of Saskatchewan.

RAC has also awarded a $500 community grant to Shaftesbury High
School in Winnipeg, to assist them to become the only permanent

1. Loyalist ARES DEC stepping down.
The Loyalist ARES DEC has stepped down as of September 30th.    George Williams, VE3SIQ has tendered his letter of resignation after one year into his term.
This was due to changes in his personal life and could no longer perform his duties.   We thank George for the time he was able to give and wish him well.

1. New EC for Renfrew County East

As of September 27, Debra Anne Bee, VE3IEH is the ARES Emergency 
Coordinator for Renfrew County East. Debra is the new  President of
the Champlain  Regional RPT Association, a CANWARN spotter for three
years, has her Basic, Morse, and Advanced privileges, and has 
leadership and management experience.  Congratulations go to Debra
for accepting this important position.  Please help me welcome her 
aboard.

1. RAC Annual General Meeting

On Saturday, October 5, at 1 pm, RAC will hold its Annual General
Meeting in conjunction with the Hamilton ARC Hamfest, in Marritt Hall

1. Ontario South "Town Hall" Meetings

The Ontario-South Section Manager will hold two "town hall" meetings
in conjunction with the Hamilton ARC Hamfest on October 5.  The first
will be for ARES/EMCOMM leaders, and will focus on team building
within Ontario South.  RAC Chief Field Services Officer Doug Mercer,
