RAC Ontario Sections Bulletin for August 30, 2014

1. GTA Simulated Emergency Test

Due to commitments made with agencies served by ARES groups in
Greater Toronto Area Section, we will hold our annual SET on
Saturday, October 18, rather than the national date of October 4.

When October 18th was first proposed as the date for the Simulated
Emergency Test, group leaders in the GTA Section moved quickly to
ensure that served agencies would have sufficient time to commit to
participation along with the amateur radio groups. By the time the
date was changed to an earlier Saturday in October, so as not to
conflict with JOTA, most of the served agencies no longer had the
flexibility of dates. GTA Section Clubs will support JOTA despite
the fact that some members will be involved in the ARES SET.

-- George Duffield, VE3WKJ, GTA Section Manager

2. London Swapmeet

The London Amateur Radio Club will hold its 37th Annual Hamfest on
Sunday, September 21, at the Hellenic Community Centre, 133 Southdale
Rd. W., in London. General admission at 9 am; talk-in on VA3LON
repeater, 147.060 (+) 114.8 Hz tone. For more information visit
www.larc.ca and click the "Hamfest" link.

3. Canadian Liberation March Special Event

From October 16th to November 15th, special event station ON4CLM will
commemorate the Canadian Liberation March, a 33km march by Canadian
troops coming to liberate the town Knokke, Belgium in 1944. This is
the 33nd year for this special event, which uses different call
signes from year to year.

A pdf certificate is available free of charge to any station who
makes one contact with ON4CLM. Their goal is to work as many
Canadian stations as possible. For more information see www.oo4clm.be

It's at www.arrl.org/logs-received, at the bottom of the page. The
ARRL Contest Branch requests that Field Day participants review the

September 12, if anything appears to be incorrect with their entry.
