NATIONAL NEWS

1. RAC Day at Radioworld

"Radio Amateurs of Canada Day" will take place at Radioworld in
Toronto on Saturday May 24th. You can meet Geoff Bawden VE4BAW,
President of RAC, and other RAC officials. There will be free
seminars on Digital and HSMM Communications, ARES, and the QSL
Bureau. Also, raffle draws, and giveaways, and a free BBQ lunch from
1100 to 1400 local time. Rain or shine!

ONTARIO SECTIONS NEWS

2. Orillia CANWARN Training Update

The May 24 CANWARN traning location has been changed. The new
location is Rama Community Hall located at 5950 Rama Road. The hall
is just to the south of the Fire Hall between CasinoRama and Williams
Road on the west side of Rama Road.

3. CANWARN Training, May 29 - June 5

CANWARN training will be offered on the following dates:

May 29 - 7 PM - Markham - Cornell Community Centre - 3201 Bur Oak

Sudbury, May 31, 9 AM, at the Lionel E. Lalonde Centre, 239 Montee
Principale, in Azilda.

Belleville, May 31, 9:30 AM, at the Belleville Library, Upper Floor
Conference Room, 254 Pinnacle Street.

Espanola, June 1, 1 PM, at the Pinewood Inn, 378 Centre St.

Sault Ste. Marie, June 2, 7 PM, at the Delta Sault Ste. Marie, 208
St. Mary's Drive.

Timmins, June 3, 7 PM, at the Holiday Inn, 30 Algonquin Blvd West.

Temiskaming Shores, June 4, 6:30 PM, at College Boreal, route 118,
New Liskeard.

North Bay, June 5, 6:30 PM, at OPP Regional Headquarters, Cathy
Burns Training Room, 911A Gormanville Road.

4. Laurentian Net Seeks NCS Alternates

The Laurentian Net is looking for alternate Net Control operators,
to fill in occasionally for a regularly scheduled Net Control
Station. LN is an information and traffic handling net that meets at
18:45 Eastern Time, seven days a week, on 3.755 MHz. If you can

5. Central Ontario Hamfest

The Guelph and Kitchener-Waterloo Amateur Radio Clubs will hold their
40th annual Central Ontario Hamfest on Sunday, June 1, at the
Waterloo Regional Police Association Recreation Park, 1199 Rife Rd.,
in North Dumfries. General admission at 9 am; free admission for
youths under 12. Talk-in on VE3KSR repeater 146.970 (-) 131.8 Hz
tone, and simplex 146.520 when nearby. For more information visit

6. ISS Contacts On Hold

There will be a lapse in contacts with the International Space
Station from May 12 to June 15, as there are no hams on board.
Licensed crew members will join the ISS and contacts are expected to
resume in July.
