1. BC/Yukon Section Manager Election

Congratulations are extended to Paul Giffin, VA7MPG who was recently
elected Section Manager for British Columbia/Yukon, for the balance
of his appointed term that ends October 30, 2013. He ran unopposed
eliminating the need for a balloted election.

1. Operators wanted for VA3RAC Canada Day Contest Station

The Canada Day Contest is fast approaching and Radio Amateurs of
Canada are looking for a VE/VA Amateur to operate under the VA3RAC
call sign. You must be a RAC member and once the contest is over you
must submit a copy of your log to RAC Headquarters so we can verify
QSL requests. Here is your chance to be a rare one and never have to
leave your home QTH!

This year's Field Day is just weeks away, and by now your
preparations should be well under way. Whether your focus for the
event is an Emergency Preparedness Display, a Public Service
Demonstration or just an excuse to get on the air, the main thing is

1. 60 Metre Consultation

Industry Canada has Gazetted the request from Radio Amateurs of
Canada for access to 60M. See the gazette item at
tinyurl.com/gazette60m. A consultation process now begins, which is
one of the last steps before final approval.

Industry Canada is seeking input on five items. RAC feels it is
important for amateur radio operators to comment on this proposal.

1. New ECs in Bruce District

Wayne McLean, VE3WWM, has become the new ARES Emergency Coordinator
for Orangeville and Dufferin County. Wayne has been quite active in
ARES as an assistant to outgoing EC Alex Giger VE3LFJ. Thanks go to
Alex for his years of service as EC.

Also, Tim Eaton, VE3RTE, CEC, has become the new Emergency
Coordinator for Kincardine and Bruce County. Tim has been active for
years in Grey County ARES, and is now filling the long-standing
vacancy in Bruce County.

1. Section Traffic Manager Needed

Ontario Section is in need of a Section Traffic Manager, to serve
until the Section reorganization is complete this fall. The

1. New Deputy Director Ontario North/East

Glenn MacDonell, VE3XRA, of Ottawa is the new Deputy Director for
Radio Amateurs of Canada, North/East Ontario Region. Glenn is
currently president of the Ottawa Amateur Radio Club, and led the
team that made presentations to the Ottawa city council regarding
amateur radio exemptions for antenna systems. He has worked for the
Federal Government and was an advisor on issues related to Canada's
space program.
