Body:

Hello Everyone,

Run-Off-the-Grid is quickly approaching.

This is our second last community event of the year and the last event where we are the only means of communication between checkpoints.

We are more than happy to have additional volunteers as we are very near to minimums to be able to support this event.

Signed up so far are:

VA3PC, VE3MAF, VE3MAA, VA3BDR, VA3CMX, VA3SPT, VE3TGI

If I missed someone who volunteered at the meeting or if you would like to add our name to this fun event please sign up on the website or contact me by email at my callsign at gmail dot com.

Tshirt order is being submitted on Monday evening so if you want to be guaranteed a t-shirt please sign up and let me know your t-shirt size before then.

Currently the plan is as follows:

0630 or earlier – Meet and eat at Tim Horton’s on Seymour
0700’ish - Depart for Mattawa
0800’ish - Arrival at Nature’s Harmony to setup Start/Finish
0815-0830 - Disperse to checkpoints to setup
0900 - First runners start

Frequencies:  (Repeater is not available at all checkpoints, please be prepared to operate Simplex)

146.520 Primary onsite
147.150 (+) VE3NBR Repeater for Mattawa area portion of travel to and from
147.030 (+) VE3ERX Repeater for North Bay area portion of travel to and from

This is a great opportunity to test your equipment in a ‘make or break’ scenario with no other form of backup communication available.

In keeping with the hosts theme of environmental responsibility there will be no disposable kitchen fare to eat off of so please be sure to bring a mess kit (plate, bowl, cup, and utensils).  Dinner is always fantastic and word is there will be stew and corn along with various sides, although that is subject to change.

Thanks

Chris VA3CMX
