Canada, with this week's bulletin

NATIONAL NEWS

1. Ham Radio Saves the Day in Yukon

On September 21, amateur radio operators provided communications for
a Search and Rescue team seeking a missing teenager. The satellite
phone at the SAR command centre, 35 km north of Whitehorse, was not
functioning, so they had no way to call for assistance or send status
reports.

Team member Terry Hauff, VY1MAP, used his mobile 2 metre radio to
contact VY1RF and VY1RM in Whitehorse via repeater, to pass traffic
to and from the command centre. The missing young man was found and
all ended well.
