NATIONAL NEWS

1. RAC Head Office Phone System problems

Please note that the VoIP telephone system at the RAC office is
currently experiencing problems. Callers are still able to leave
messages and we encourage this. The problem is being investigated
and we hope to have it repaired in a timely fashion.

2. VE6NL Appointed SEC

Radio Amateurs of Canada would like to announce the appointment of
Neal Sunderland VE6NL, as Section Emergency Coordinator for Alberta,
Northwest Territories and Nunavut. The Alberta Section is one of our
most active Sections in recent years with fires in the north and
flooding in the south.

Neal has been involved in radio both professionally and privately for
more than 40 years. He became a licensed Amateur five years ago, and
has been active in ARES in the Calgary region. Neal is trained in and
has worked professionally in Search and Rescue, Emergency Medicine
and other related fields.

3. Alberta Hams Honoured

In June of 2013, High River, Alberta suffered one of Canada's
greatest natural disasters, the Alberta floods. Ham radio operators
from the Foothills Amateur Radio Club and across the region responded
to the emergency, to augment or replace communications that had been
damaged or destroyed in the torrent.

To honour the extraordinary efforts of these amateurs, the Foothills
Amateur Radio Club arranged a ceremony and banquet. To read the

4. Milton Hamfest

The Burlington Amateur Radio Club will hold its 40th anniversary
"Ontario Hamfest" on Saturday, July 12, at the Milton Agricultural
Fairgrounds. General admission at 9 am; talk-in on 146.52 simplex.

5. WRTC 2014 Participation Awards

The 2014 World Radiosport Team Championship, a contest with 59
teams, will also give awards to amateur stations who participate by
working the WRTC team stations. Any station that appears in all 59
WRTC team logs will be able to download a certificate. Also,
stations who submit logs within six hours of the end of the contest
will be designated "Assistant Judge" and will be eligible for
Bronze, Silver, and Gold awards. For complete details visit
