NATIONAL NEWS
1. British Columbia QSO Party
The 2014 BC QSO Party will run from 1600z Feb 1 to 0400z Feb 2. The
objective for stations outside BC is to work as many BC stations as
possible. Rules, exchange and multipliers, awards, helpful hints and
a  schedule of same-day events can be  accessed from the BCQP
homepage on the Orca DXCC website at www.orcadxcc.org/bcqp.html.

2. RAC member appointed Queen Counsel
The province of Alberta announced on December 31th, that Mr. Timothy
S. Ellam, VE6SH was one of the lawyers appointed to the province's
Queen Council status. Mr. Ellam is the current IARU President and has
been a member of Radio Amateurs Canada for several years.
RAC President Geoff Bawden, VE4BAW on behalf of all members and
amateurs in Canada, extends his sincere congratulations to Tim Ellam
for this prestigious appointment.

ONTARIO SECTIONS NEWS
3. Ontario ARES 40m net
The Ontario ARES 40m net has designated 7065 kHz as a backup
frequency when the usual frequency of 7080 kHz is busy.  The ARES net
meets every Sunday at 1300 Eastern Time.

ITEMS OF INTEREST
4. ARRL Centennial Operations
To celebrate the Centennial of the American Radio Relay League,
station W1AW at ARRL Headquarters in Newington, CT, will operate with
special call sign W100AW, on all bands and "on every mode possible."
W100AW contacts will be uploaded to Logbook of The World. Postal QSLs
will be acknowledged as well.
Also, during 2014 W1AW will be on the air from every state (at least
twice) and most US territories.  On January 8, operation moved from
North Carolina and West Virginia to Utah (W1AW/7) and South Carolina
(W1AW/4). The "Worked All States with W1AW Award" will be available
to those who work W1AW operating portable from every state.

5. Log4OM New Version
The latest release of the free logging software Log4OM version 1.16
can now be downloaded from www.pisto.it/wordpress.  There are many
new features including tight integration to FLDigi, for streamlined
logging of digital modes, and integration with SDR-Radio Consul
version 2.1.  Details are in the updated user guide, available at the
same download location.
