ONTARIO SECTION NEWS

1. New ECs in Bruce District

Wayne McLean, VE3WWM, has become the new ARES Emergency Coordinator
for Orangeville and Dufferin County. Wayne has been quite active in
ARES as an assistant to outgoing EC Alex Giger VE3LFJ. Thanks go to
Alex for his years of service as EC.

Also, Tim Eaton, VE3RTE, CEC, has become the new Emergency
Coordinator for Kincardine and Bruce County. Tim has been active for
years in Grey County ARES, and is now filling the long-standing
vacancy in Bruce County.

On behalf of RAC, I thank both Wayne and Tim for taking on these
important positions in the Amateur Radio Emergency Service.

2. CANWARN Training May 16

CANWARN training will be held on Wednesday, May 16, in Dufferin
County, 7 PM, at the Dufferin County Museum, corner of Hwy 89 and
Airport Road in Mulmur.

3. U.S. Armed Forces Day Crossband Test

On May 12th, the U.S. Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps and Coast
Guard are co-sponsoring the annual Military/Amateur Radio Crossband
Communications Test in celebration of the 62nd anniversary of Armed
Forces Day (AFD).

Participating military stations will transmit on selected military
MARS frequencies and listen for Amateur Radio stations in the amateur
bands. SSB and CW will be used. QSL cards will be provided to those
stations making contact with the military stations. For schedules and

4. Bailing Out a Radio Club

Is your radio club struggling? You might find this article

5. Amateur Radio Posters for Download

The RSGB has made available a collection of amateur radio promotional
posters that can be used when demonstrating the hobby to the public.
