NATIONAL NEWS

1. RAC Seeks a Treasurer

The Radio Amateurs of Canada is looking for a Treasurer who is a
Chartered Accountant, Certified General Accountant or Certified
Management Accountant. A certification in amateur radio is optional.
As RAC's financial advisor, we need someone to provide direction on
the accounts and act as liaison with the external auditors.
Experience with QuickBooks would be an asset.

Please speak with your friends, there must be a RAC member who
either qualifies or can approach someone for this volunteer
position. Interested parties please contact the RAC Corporate

2. British Columbia QSO Party

The 2012 British Columbia QSO Party will take place from 1600Z
February 4 to 0400Z February 5, on all bands 160-10 metres except the
WARC bands, phone, CW, and digital. The object for stations outside
British Columbia is to work stations in the 36 BC Federal Electoral
Districts. Exchange is electoral district for BC stations,
province/state for non-BC stations. For more information see

3. Guides on the Air

Guides on the Air (GOTA) will take place Saturday and Sunday,
Feburary 18th and 19th. This is an opportunity for Girl Guides, from
Sparks to Guiders, to talk to other members of Girl Guides and Girl
Scouts all over the world via amateur radio. Outside Canada, GOTA is
known as Thinking Day on the Air. For information visit

4. Traffic Handlers' Quiz

Anyone interested in determining his or her knowledge of traffic
handling do's and dont's is encouraged to take the Traffic Handlers'
Quiz at www.emcomm.org/thc/scoreboard.htm. There are 40 questions
related to message handling. If you have done the quiz in the past,
do not take it again as your original score is the only one which
will count towards your placement.

5. Contest University 2012

The 2012 Contest University will be held May 17th at the Crowne Plaza
Hotel in Dayton, Ohio, during the Dayton Hamvention. This years
scheduled instructors include such notables as N6TR, K3NA, K7NV,
XE1KK, W5WZ and K2RD. Early bird registration is open through
