ONTARIO SECTION NEWS
1. New EC Appointments
Two new Emergency Coordinators have joined the Ontario ARES team. We
welcome Richard Upfield, VA3RMU, representing Brampton/Caledon in the
Greater Toronto Area.  And also Alan Viitala, VA3AJV, in the Sudbury
region.
Both appointees have expressed a strong interest in community service
and the development of their local Emergency Communications
resources.

2. Loyalist District Exercise
Following a the request of the CEMC for Greater Napanee, which lacks
an ARES group, the other groups of Loyalist District held a District
exercise in Napanee in November 2010.  The report of that exercise
can now be viewed on the racaresontario.ca web site, under "Extended
Bulletin Articles".

ITEMS OF INTEREST
3. March Special Events
VE3IKV will use the special callsign VX3X to celebrate the 250th
World Anniversary of the Veterinary Profession, between March 4th and
April 4th. QSL direct to VE3IKV.
VA3RVK will activate speical callsign XL3A from March 11th to April
11th, to celebrate the Parks Canada Centennial . QSL XL3A via VE3AT,
direct (QRZ.com) or bureau.
Special event station VE3XR will be active from the Brampton Fall
Fairgrounds, from 1300Z to 1600Z on March 26th, for the Ham-Ex
Hamfest.  They will be active on 3.750, 7.260 and 14.265 MHz SSB
(+/- QRM). QSL via VA3QSL, direct or bureau.

4. ARISSat-1 Deployment Postponed
Because of changes in the space walk schedule, the deployment of the
ARISSat-1 satellite from the International Space Station, previously
scheduled for February 16, has been postponed.  ARISSat-1 deployment
has been rescheduled to July 2011.
