1202 (February 8th) NBARC Meeting Report

The NBARC February meeting was held Wednesday February 8th 2012 in the OPP COMM Centre. It was called to order at 1930ET by Bill.
In attendance were: VA3BDR, VA3PC, VE3XKB, VE3MAA, VE3YO, VA3DLJ, VE3MAF, VE3PUP, VE3GMG, VE3YUI, VA3SPT, VE3TGI, VA3JGH, VA3CMX

Correspondence: RAC insurance coverage paperwork was received.

Treasurer: No change.

New Hams: Nil

2mtr net: Nothing happening.

80mtr net: Sundays 0900ET 3.768MHz. Averaging 6-8 check ins. Band has been poor recently due sunspots.

Repeaters: Still working normally. Paul is working on the time keeping software. IRLP/Echolink working well.

Website: www.ve3nbc.ca. e-mail nbarc@ve3nbc.ca It is running well.

ARES: Nothing new. Paul attended the CEMPC meeting. Next meeting April 19th 2012. Our MCOMM Manual has been updated and posted on the web site. Please review it. Doug va3dlj@gmail.com would appreciate comments.

Hamfests: Brampton March 24th 2012. There is at least one van going.

Contest Club: No updates.

RAC: Paul gave a report. Check the website.

Events: Check the web site events calendar for the most up to date info.
1) Field Day June 23/24. If there is enough interest we are looking to run field day. Need about 6-8 people and a commitment to operate. This is a fun event but does take preparation to set up. At least 3-4 people must remain overnight if the equipment is going to stay set-up. It makes for a fun group event and associated BBQ and chilly are great. Vote on doing it next meeting but we need committed people. If you are willing to participate let us know at nbarc@ve3nbc.ca .
2) The MS Walkathon is May 27th.
3)Summer in the Park (SITP) is the Aug long weekend. AUG 3/4/5. We will be doing it. Will need volunteers. Stay tuned.

New Business: Doug mentioned 80mtr is poor but 40mtr doing well.
