1. 2012 Jamboree on the Air

This year's Jamboree on the Air will be held on October 20 and 21.
Last year's effort saw a 600% increase in reported Scout
participation in the USA -- 3,000-plus American Scouts were a part of
exciting activities and a superb introduction to the fun and
technology of Amateur Radio. For more information visit

2. Montreal South Shore Hamfest

The Montreal South-Shore Amateur Radio Club will hold "the biggest
hamfest in Quebec" on Saturday, October 20, at Place Desaulniers,
1023 Taschereau blvd, Longueuil (10 minutes from downtown Montreal).
General admission at 9 am; talk-in on VE2RSM repeater, 145.390 (-)
103.5 Hz tone. For more information visit www.ve2clm.ca and click

3. Humanitarian Award Nominations Open

Nominations are open for the 2012 ARRL International Humanitarian
Award. This award is conferred upon an amateur or amateurs world-wide
who demonstrate devotion to human welfare, peace and international
understanding through Amateur Radio.

Nominations should include a summary of the actions that qualify the
individual (or individuals) for this award, plus verifying statements
from at least two people having first-hand knowledge of the events
warranting the nomination. All nominations and supporting materials
must be submitted in writing in English to ARRL International
Humanitarian Award, 225 Main St, Newington, CT 06111 USA, no later
than December 31, 2012. For more information see
