ONTARIO SECTION NEWS
1. Ontario Simulated Emergency Test
The Ontario province-wide Simulated Emergency Test (SET) will be
conducted on October 15th from 10:00 to 14:00 and 18:00 to 21:00
Eastern Time. All ARES Groups are encouraged to participate in
Province-wide SET activities and pass traffic to the other ARES
Groups, RAC Officials and Government/Support Agencies throughout the
Province and the Provincial Emergency Operations Centre VE3EMO.
A special session is also scheduled for Wednesday October 12th, from
09:00 to 12:00 Eastern, to accommodate groups which only have
Emergency Operations Centre access during normal business hours. For

2. Laurentian Net time change
Effective immediately, the Laurentian Net now starts at 18:45 Eastern
Time, seven days a week, on 3.755 MHz. The Sunday net no longer
starts at an earlier time.

3. Ontario Phone Net Frequency
A reminder to all: the Ontario Phone Net, which meets daily at 19:00
Eastern Time, is now on 3745 kHz, up 3 kHz from the old frequency.

4. Northern Ontario Hamfest
The Sudbury and Manitoulin Amateur Radio Clubs will hold their second
Northern Ontario Hamfest on Saturday, September 24, at the Garson
Arena, 100 Church St, in Garson (near Sudbury). General admission at
9 am; talk-in on VE3SRG repeater, 147.060 (-), 100 Hz tone. For more

5. London Flea Market
The London Amateur Radio Club will hold its 34th annual flea market
on Sunday, September 25, at the Western Fair Grounds, Special Events
Building, 900 King Street, in London. General admission at 9 am;
talk-in on VA3LON repeater, 147.060 (+), 114.8 Hz tone. For more
