1. OPN Frequency Change

Effective November 2, the Ontario Phone Net will switch back to its
wintertime frequency, 3.745 MHz. The net meets every day at 7 pm
Eastern Time. All stations are welcome.

The Ontario Phone Net is also seeking Net Control Stations to take
shifts on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, or Saturday. If you would

1. ARES ID Card Production

RAC is happy to report that the production of ARES Identification
cards is back to normal, and the backlog has been cleared. We
apologize for the delays during our transitional phase. Submit

1. Ham Radio Saves the Day in Yukon

On September 21, amateur radio operators provided communications for
a Search and Rescue team seeking a missing teenager. The satellite
phone at the SAR command centre, 35 km north of Whitehorse, was not
functioning, so they had no way to call for assistance or send status
reports.

1. "Last Man Standing" Special Event

On September 28, from 1400 to 2200 UTC, special event station K6H
will operate HF and D-STAR from the so-called "Seinfeld Stage" on
the CBS Studio Center lot in Studio City, California. Hosts for the
event will be Amateur Radio crew members of the ABC television series
"Last Man Standing."

1. RAC 60m Proposal Accepted

Radio Amateurs of Canada is pleased report that the CPC, Industry
Canada's consultative committee, has accepted the RAC proposal to
establish a 60m allocation for amateurs. It proposes two 25 KHz band
segments for amateurs: 5330 - 5355 kHz and 5405 - 5430 kHz. Amateur
access would be on a non-interfering, secondary basis.

Greetings Northern Ontario Field Services Members;
First of all hello to everyone and I hope you all are doing well. I must start by apologizing to all you of not keeping in better contact with you all over the past few years. As your Section Manager even though I was only a call away I should have made better effort to call each of you and see how things were going. The August 2014 RAC Report is available for viewing on both the old
and the new website. You must be logged in as a member to view the
report on either site. On the old website, www.rac.ca, the report is
in the "Members' section" pull down menu on the left. On the new
website, wp.rac.ca, once logged in, go to "publications" then

1. GTA Simulated Emergency Test

Due to commitments made with agencies served by ARES groups in
Greater Toronto Area Section, we will hold our annual SET on
Saturday, October 18, rather than the national date of October 4.

When October 18th was first proposed as the date for the Simulated
Emergency Test, group leaders in the GTA Section moved quickly to
ensure that served agencies would have sufficient time to commit to
participation along with the amateur radio groups. By the time the
