ONTARIO SECTIONS NEWS

1. Submitting Bulletin Items

Amateur Radio groups in Ontario that wish to announce upcoming
events, or report on their activities, are invited to send brief
items to the Official Bulletin Manager email address,
obm (at) ve3rhj.net. Items should be no more than twelve lines long,
and must be received by Wednesday for the next week's bulletin,

ITEMS OF INTEREST

2. 4M-LXS Lunar Ham Radio Mission Launched

On October 23, at 1759 UTC, the Chinese Chang’e-5-T1 mission was
launched from Xichang Satellite Launch Center, Sichuan Province. It
is carrying a ham radio payload, 4M-LXS. The battery-powered payload
will transmit a JT65B signal on 145.980 MHz +/- 2.9kHz, Doppler max:
-2200Hz, +1000Hz. The transmissions will start 77.8 minutes after
launch, and will be continuous through the lunar flyby on October
28, and possibly longer as the spacecraft returns to Earth orbit.

3. November Sweepstakes

Operators across all 83 ARRL and RAC sections will participate in the
two November Sweepstakes events. The CW event is November 1-3, while
the SSB event is November 15-17, both from 2100 UTC Saturday to 0259
UTC Monday (Sunday evening local time). For rules operating details,

4. Gray Line Software

Simon Brown, G4ELI has released a simple Windows program which
displays Gray-line, Geomagnetic Indices, Solar Data as well as
Sunrise and Sunset times. The program is free of cost and can be
downloaded at tinyurl.com/G4ELI-gray-line

5. Historical Radio Publications Online

The American Radio History website, www.americanradiohistory.com,
offers "two million pages of AM FM & TV Broadcasting history online."
There are many vintage professional and consumer magazines,
including hobby electronics magazines. Also check out their
technical bookshelf.
