RAC Ontario Section Bulletin for February 9, 2013

NATIONAL NEWS

1. RAC Director Election / Appointments

Mr. William (Bill) Gipps, VE7XS was recently acclaimed as the RAC
Director for British Columbia/Yukon, from January 1, 2013 to December
31, 2014. Mr. Gipps ran unopposed, eliminating the need for a
balloted election.

Mr. Everett Price, VO1DK was recently acclaimed as the RAC Director
for Atlantic, from January 1, 2013 to December 31, 2014. Mr. Price
ran unopposed, eliminating the need for a balloted election.

Mr. Derek Hay, VE4HAY was recently appointed as the RAC Director for
Midwest. Mr. Hay has generously stepped forward to continue his RAC
Director's role after there were no eligible nominees resulting from
a second call for nominations. His term will end on December 31,
2014.

Congratulations are extended to all three gentlemen.

ONTARIO SECTIONS NEWS

2. Ontario-South Section Traffic Manager Appointed

Mr. James Davidson, VE3TPZ / VA3WR has accepted the appointment of
Section Traffic Manager in the Ontario-South Section. James is a
former Manager of the Ontario Phone Net and is active in the ARES
program. Congratulations James.

3. TPN Seeks Net Controllers

The Trans-Provincial Net is seeking net controllers. TPN meets daily
on 7.055 MHz, lower sideband, from 7 am to 5 pm Eastern Time. If you
can help by taking a regular shift, please contact Shawn VE3PSV,
from 3 to 4 pm any day on the TPN, or via NTS message.

4. Free Download of ITU Radio Regulations

The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) is offering an
electronic version of the 2012 International Radio Regulations at no
charge. These regulations incorporate the decisions of the World
Radiocommunication Conferences WRC-95, WRC-97, WRC-2000, WRC-03,
WRC-07 and WRC-12. Article 25 defines the Amateur Radio Service.

5. Field Day 2013 Packet Available

Field Day is June 22-23, and the ARRL Field Day Packet is now
available for download at www.arrl.org/fieldday . The packet includes
the complete 2013 rules, forms, ARRL Section abbreviation list, entry
submission instructions, guidelines for getting bonus points,
instructions for Get-On-The-Air stations, a publicity kit, and a
"What is Field Day" flyer for clubs and individuals to reproduce.

New for 2013: Stations operating as Class A or B may begin setting up
at 0000 UTC on Friday (Thursday 8 PM Eastern Time). The groups may
start and stop their set-up, resuming the set-up later, but may spend
only a maximum of 24 hours cumulative time for setting up their
sites.
