NATIONAL NEWS

1. Special Event station VX9MRC

To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Titanic disaster, the
Marconi Radio Club of Newfoundland will transmit a special bulletin
near 500 kHz, the frequency used by the Titanic to send their
distress call to Newfoundland. Listen on 507.77 kHz CW for VX9MRC
between 0001 and 0400 UTC on 15 April. Please note this is Saturday
night, 14 April, for listeners in Ontario.

ONTARIO SECTION NEWS

2. CANWARN Training April 11-21

CANWARN training will be held in the following locations:

On Wednesday April 11, in Sarnia, 7 PM, in the Lower Auditorium of
the Clearwater Arena, 1400 Wellington St. in Sarnia.

On Tuesday April 17, in Windsor, 7 PM, at the Giovanni Caboto Club,
2175 Parent Ave.

On Wednesday April 18, in London, 7 PM, in Room T1003, Building T,
Fanshawe College, 1001 Fanshawe College Blvd. There is free parking
at any metered spots on campus after 6 PM.

On Saturday April 21, in Hamilton, 9 AM, in the Nash Auditorium,
Wilcox Building, Chedoke Hospital, Sanatorium Road. Free parking
is available across the street from the auditorium.

3. Durham Region Hamfest

The South Pickering Amateur Radio Club and North Shore Amateur Radio
Club will hold their annual hamfest on Saturday, April 21, at the
Pickering Recreation Complex, 1867 Valley Farm Rd, just one block
east of Pickering Town Centre. General admission at 9 am; talk-in on
VE3SPA repeater, 147.375 (+) 103.5 Hz tone. For more information

4. Ontario QSO Party

The 15th Annual Ontario QSO Party will be held from 1800Z April 21 to
0500Z April 22, and 1200Z to 1800Z April 22. Stations outside Ontario
attempt to contact as many Ontario stations as possible; Ontario
stations work everyone. Operation is on all bands 160-2 meters except
the WARC bands, CW, SSB, and FM. For complete rules visit

5. More World Amateur Radio Day Stations

In addition to those mentioned last week, these special event
stations will commemorate World Amateur Radio Day:

EL2RL by the Liberia Radio Amateur Association will be active on
April 18, on 10, 15, 17 and 20 meters. Direct QSL to EL2BA.

HB9WARD by Union Schweizerischer Kurzwellen-Amateure to be active
also on April 18. QSL via HB9JOE.

HF87WARD by members of the SP-CFF (SP0CFF). This station will be
active from April 17 to 30. QSL via eQSL.cc and WFF LogSerach. For
