NATIONAL NEWS

1. RAC Appoints Public Information Officer

I am extremely pleased to announce the appointment of Alan Bauld,
VE3CBR, to the Field Organization National Secretariat effective
immediately. Alan resides in Stittsville, Ontario just outside Ottawa,
and will be a welcome addition to our ever growing team.

2. Olympic Special Event Stations

Two special event call signs will be activated to celebrate
the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

From London, England, station 2012L (Two Oscar One Two Lima) will be
active through the duration of the Games, located at the historic
Eltham Palace, south-east London on 160m-2m, all modes. For more
information see www.2o12L.com.

From Wales, station 2O12W (Two Oscar One Two Whiskey) will also be
active on all bands from 160m to 23cm and all modes including SSTV
and satellite from Whitmore Bay, Barry Island, Vale of Glamorgan,

3. India's HAMSAT VO-52 Recovered

After failing on February 28, HAMSAT VO-52 is back on the air. Both
the transponder and CW beacon are functional. Their frequencies are:

Uplink: 435.2250 - 435.2750 MHz SSB/CW
Downlink: 145.9250 - 145.8750 MHz SSB/CW
Beacon: 145.8600 MHz CW

The HAMSAT team requests detailed reception reports be sent to:
tprangan (at) istrac.org with a copy to wmy (at) isac.gov.in.

4. Longwave Club

Interested in the possible new MW (medium wave) amateur allocation?
Check out the Longwave Club of America, www.lwca.org. Their
periodical "Lowdown" covers everything on LF from "Natural Radio"
(atmospherics) to 500 kHz, experimental stations, technical content,
and a stations-heard listing.
