1. Ottawa Amateur Radio Club Hamfest
The Ottawa Amateur Radio Club will hold its 14th Annual Hamfest on
Saturday, September 11, at the Carp Agricultural Fairgrounds, 3832
Carp Road, in Carp.  Open to the public at 9 a.m.;  talk-in on VE2CRA
repeater, 146.94 (-), 100 Hz tone.  For more information visit

2. Barrie-Orillia Hamfest
The Barrie and Orillia Amateur Radio Clubs will hold their joint
hamfest on Saturday, September 11, at the the Oro-Medonte
Fairgrounds, north on Hwy 11 to 7th line of Oro-Medonte, and then
just past the Airport on 7th line. Open to the public at 8 a.m.;
talk-in on VE3LSR repeater, 146.85 (-), 156.7 Hz tone.  For more

3. Pakistan flood disaster update
The Pakistan Amateur Radio Society (PARS) reports that emergency
communications support has been extended in the past week to three
more villages. Food and non-food items have been provided to around
1,000 families in the Charsadda and Nowshera areas. A medical camp
was also established which has treated almost 700 patients. 
About 30 hams are providing help to those who have fled the flooded
areas, using repeaters and 2m simplex. Hand-held radios and cross
band repeaters and antennas have been offered from Turkey. PARS
continues working in collaboration with Islamabad Jeep Club members
with their 4WD sport utility vehicles delivering essential relief
supplies, with medical help being provided by the Pakistan Academy of
Family Physicians.

4. Antique Radios Web Page
Jim Tripp WA6DIJ has quite a collection of old radios, which you can
see on his web page, www.antiqueradiomuseum.org.  Be sure to visit
the Hallicrafters and "boat anchor" collections.  As Jim says, "real
radios glow in the dark."
