A sad announcement to pass on, Bob as most may know was our host when we played at "the barn" in many a contest, as well as Ken Smith's father in law.
Robert Thomas (Bob) Williams WILLIAMS, Robert Thomas (Bob) - Nov 25, 1923 - Aug 20, 2013 -
Passed away peacefully at the North Bay Regional Health Centre on August 20, 2013 after living a very full life.
He was 89 years old. He is survived by his wife of 61 years Joyce (nee Hollowell), his children Brenda (Andy), Barbara (Jamie Laning), Holly (Ken Smith), Blair (Stephanie McCracken), David (Lori Forester) and his daughter-in-law Sue Barton Williams, his 8 grandchildren Keegan, Trevor, Nicholas, Christopher, Scott, Rebecca, Sydney and Camryn. Also missed by Kay Garrett. Predeceased by his parents Percy and Eva (nee Badger), his brother Elmer, sister Verna Myers and infant grandson Robbie Smith.
Bob was a kind, generous, fun-loving, hardworking man for his family, his job and his church. After serving overseas during WWII in the RCAF, he became a Professional Engineer, graduating from University of Toronto in 1951. During his professional career he worked for Ontario Hydro, managed the small utility of Widdifield Hydro and following amalgamation was assistant manager and then manager at North Bay Hydro. He was active in professional organizations such as EUSA and APEO.
He volunteered for Meals on Wheels and was Chairman of the Board of Governors at Nipissing University.
Family will be receiving friends at the MARTYN FUNERAL HOME on Monday, August 26th, 2013 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm.
Funeral service will be held at the Calvin Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, August 27th at 11 am. Special thanks to Dr. Cowan and the nursing and support staff at the hospital for their care and kindness. Memorial donations may be made to Calvin Presbyterian Church, Alzheimer Society or Nipissing University and will be gratefully acknowledged by his family.
