It was brought to our attention last night at the Christmas get together last night that we have another Silent Key.
Bud passed on the weekend, and the service was Wednesday.

PEARCE, Edgar Charles (Bud) - After a lengthy illness on Saturday November 27, 2010 in his 90th year. Dear husband of Joan (nee Cooke). Loving father of Geoffrey (Kimberly) of Emo, Ontario, Joanne Arthurs (Michael) of North Bay, Jennifer Langlois (Bill) of Toronto and Tim (Stephanie) of Red Deer, Alberta. Sadly missed by 12 grandchildren. Survived by his brother John (Germaine) of Ajax. Predeceased by his parents Wilfred and Frances Pearce and his sisters Helen. Bud was born in Sydney, Nova Scotia and raised in Timmins. During the depression he was forced to leave school to work in the mines. Once old enough, he joined the RCAF and served in Goose Bay during WWII. After the war, he completed his high school diploma and went on to the University of Western Ontario to earn a degree in math and physics and was awarded his degree in electrical engineering. During the summers Bud would always return home and lifeguard to earn money for school. After school he worked for Bell Canada in Montreal. He moved to North Bay in 1957 and joined Ontario Northland Telecommunications where he spent the rest of his career retiring as Chief Engineer in 1985. Bud was involved in many community activities including amateur radio, the Rotary Club, the Shriners and was a past member of St. Andrew's United Church. He was also an accomplished athlete taking part in hockey, sailing and lacrosse.
