NATIONAL NEWS

1. RAC Affiliated Club Insurance

RAC is pleased to advise that it has found a new insurance carrier
for the Affiliated Club Insurance program. Currently insured clubs
should have received renewal forms by this time. Please contact
Frank at the RAC office if we missed sending you a renewal notice,
either by email to frank (at) rac.ca, or telephone 877-273-8304.

This program is primarily run by RAC volunteers and RAC would like to
thank Jerry VE3EXT for his expertise and hard work in working with
our broker to hold the line on costs.

ONTARIO SECTIONS NEWS

2. Acting Section Manager for Ontario South, GTA

I am pleased to announce that Allan Boyd, VE3AJB, Section Manager for
Ontario North, has indicated his commitment to RAC by accepting the
role of Acting Section Manager of Ontario South and Ontario GTA until
such time as these positions are filled. Allan was Section Manager
for all Ontario before the division into four Ontario sections.

Allan will continue in his role as Chair of the Ontario Section
Managers Council. I want to thank Allan for his continuing support of
RAC. He has been a pillar of RAC for over a decade.

ITEMS OF INTEREST

3. Treaty of Ghent Special Events

From December 5 to January 5, Special Event Station VC3D will
commemorate the 200th Anniversary of the Treaty of Ghent, which ended
the War of 1812. QSL via VE3JO.

From December 6 to January 5, the same event will be commemorated by
Special Event Station XM3G. Expected frequencies are 28.490,
21.290, and 14.290; possibly also operating on 12m, 17m, and 40m.

4. Some CQ WPX Applications via LoTW Not Processed

Some CQ WPX Awards Program applications using ARRL’s Logbook of The
World (LoTW) were not properly processed. If you used LoTW to apply
for a WPX Award between October 8th 0500 UTC and November 5th 1700
UTC, and have not yet received a e-mail acknowledgment, contact WPX
Award Manager Steve Bolia, N8BJQ, email n8bjq (at)

5. Alberta ARISS Contact

On November 8th, a successful Amateur Radio on the International
Space Station (ARISS) contact was made between Airdrie Space Science
Club, Airdrie, Alberta, and Astronaut Gregory Wiseman KF5LKT using
callsign NA1SS. The contact began at 16:01 UTC and lasted about nine
and a half minutes. Contact was direct via ARISS Mentor VE6JBJ.
