ONTARIO SECTION NEWS
1. CANWARN Training, April 30 - May 5
CANWARN training will be offered near Orillia on April 30th, at 9 AM,
at the Rama Community Hall, 5950 Rama Road, in Rama (across the
street from CasinoRama).
Also on May 5th in Peterborough, at 7 PM, in the lower level
boardroom of the Peterborough Public Library,  345 Aylmer St. North.
If you will be attending a CANWARN training session, please send an
email to Geoff.Coulson (at) ec.gc.ca, so that he can reserve space.

ITEMS OF INTEREST
2. International Marconi Day
International Marconi Day is a 24-hour amateur radio event held each
year to celebrate the Marconi's birthday, 25 April 1874.  For this
year only, the event is on a different date, April 30, from 0000 to
2359 UTC. This is because the usual date would have fallen on Easter

3. Royal Wedding Special Prefixes
At the request of the Radio Society of Great Britain, Ofcom will
issue special temporary call signs that British amateurs may use from
April 29 through May 9, commemorating the marriage of HRH Prince
William of Wales and Miss Catherine Middleton. UK hams who apply for
these special call signs will be using prefixes GR, MR and 2R.

4. CRAQ Special Event
From May 1st to 31st, special event station VC2CQ85 will be
celebrating the 85th Anniversary of Club Radio Amateur de Québec
(CRAQ). Operation will be by scheduled volunteers with their personal

5. ARRL Video Contest Winners
Congratulations to Stan Leschinsky, VE3TW, and Bert Almemo, VE3OUB,
both of Scarborough, who took third place in the ARRL Video Contest.
