Applying for Federal and Provincial grants

KD8LWV - 2010, October 15 - 19:51

I thought I would propose this on the forum to see if it gets any traction: now that NBARC has been re-incorporated, would there be any interest in applying for grant money to fund some new club radio stations or expand the range of club activities? If NBARC has participated in grant processes in the past, maybe we could even build on that...

Grant proposals:

  • Ontario Trillium grants [1] are $20,000 and up, and must be no more than 50% of total project costs.
  • Federal funding, with support via the city government from the Federal Joint Emergency Preparedness Program (JEPP) [2].
  • Community Based Projects Funding [3] (
New Horizons for Seniors Program provides funding for community projects that are inspired or led by seniors.)

New project proposals:

  • Club shack and HF base station
  • Emergency preparedness training
  • VHF and APRS stations for emergency use [4]
  • Portable VHF repeaters for events and emergency use

...?

Cheers,
Henry KD8LWV
